Why The Camino de Tara?

An acquaintance of mine had asked how I chose the name of my blog as its not the “norm” in today’s blogger world, nor is it pretty and frilly, and full of high resolution perfect professional camera pictures.

I came to the name by listening to a Sirius XM channel 129 (The Catholic Channel) show called Seize the Day hosted by Gus Lloyd. I started listening to channel 129 when I was just so exhausted by listening to all of these music stations that do nothing but cry about a bad breakup, are angry about something else and yadda yadda yadda. God had my back that day because I have not turned on any music station since, and I am so grateful for it. I have been listening to some really good Christian music, helps keep me focused on God in song when I’m in the mood for music.

Anyway, back to Gus. I started listening in the springtime, and have been hooked to his morning show since. It is because of his show that I learned how to pray The Rosary, and learned about Sunday Mass, and a plethora of other topics that I just find fascinating. He also has a 4 book series called A Minute in the Church that has tiny 60-second bites about all things Catholic. If you have The Catechism of the Catholic Church as well, it’s the perfect accompaniment to help you did deeper if you are new or newly returning and don’t know all of these little nuances.

Recently, Gus and a few other “pilgrims” did the 1st half of the Camino de Santiago, which is The Way of Saint James. He recorded his live broadcasts during the journey, speaking with unknowns and the people who accompanied him. It fascinated me, it moved me, and I just loved everything about what I heard over the last week. It inspired this blog aptly named Camino de Tara! It’s MY path or MY journey through the Catholic faith and my God.

It’s that simple! Nothing life changing or tragic, just something as simple as a radio show! lol!

I dare to ask… Have you or someone you know ever walked the Camino de Santiago? or want to? Please let me hear about it! I love hearing the stories of others. It inspires me!
